Smoke and CO detectors

I came across this information regarding smoke and CO detectors and thought it would be a great time to mention it, since many folks change the batteries on their detectors on New Years Day. The newest addition to the regulations is that as of January 1st of 2009, ONLY Photoelectric smoke detectors (rather than the inonization type) are allowed in new homes, or when they are transferred or sold.
Also, if you don't already have Fire & CO detectors you really, really should pick up one or more. They are quite inexpensive and definitely save lives.
It is also recommended that the detectors be replaced every 10 years.
The publication is here. It goes into a bit more detail and is easy to read and understand. Please do not hesitate to call me direct if you have questions...802-846-7862.
Wishing you all a safe and Happy New Year!
